Professional Activity Day Details

Topic/Focus: Student Achievement and Well-Being; Literacy and Numeracy Improvement; School Safety and Legislative Compliance 

Brief Description of Activities: Staff will engage in professional learning focused on improving student achievement and well-being through analysis of student learning data, literacy and numeracy instruction, assessment and evaluation practices, and school improvement planning. Staff will also review school safety procedures and complete mandatory workplace health and safety training. 

Learning Methods: Presentations, collaborative planning, data analysis, professional discussion, and self-directed online learning modules. 

Presenters/Facilitators: School Principals and Vice-Principals, School and Learning Services Staff, and Occupational Health and Safety Services Staff. 

Resources: Early Reading Screening Resources, LDCSB Assessment and Evaluation Procedures, Growing Success, and Occupational Health and Safety Training Modules. 

Topic/Focus: Mental Health and Well-Being; Artificial Intelligence and Digital Citizenship; Catholic Perspective on Human Relationships and Well-Being 

Brief Description of Activities: Staff will participate in learning focused on personal well-being, positive relationships, and strategies for fostering supportive school communities. Learning will include reflection on resilience, belonging, wellness practices, and the role of prayer in supporting well-being. Staff will also examine the impact of artificial intelligence on learning, relationships, and human dignity through the lens of Catholic education and current Church teaching. 

Learning Methods: Presentations, guided reflection, small-group discussions, collaborative learning activities, and wellness-focused reflection opportunities. 

Presenters/Facilitators: Catholicity and Faith Development Team, School Administrators, Board Faith Leaders, and Fr. Mockler (video presentation).
