Based on the guidance and direction from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour and our local health units, and in alignment with community measures, the province is returning schools to a more normal learning environment. The following changes for LDCSB schools, students and staff will come into effect on Monday, March 21.
School-related changes:
- Masks are no longer required in LDCSB schools for staff, students, visitors, and on student transportation. The wearing of masks is highly encouraged, but no longer required for our LDCSB community. Masks will continue to be provided upon request for both students and staff.
- All cohorting and distancing protocols will end both indoors or outdoors.
- The provincial screening tool has been updated with new isolation requirements depending on vaccination status.
- Assemblies and field trips will be allowed again (details TBD. Please note that there continues to be a shortage of bus drivers across the region).
- Graduation and prom ceremonies may take place again this June (details TBD).
What hasn’t changed:
- Students and staff are still required to complete the daily screening and follow the guidance it provides, including isolation requirements.
- The attendance data will continue to be posted at the Ministry site until April 14.
- Rapid Antigen Tests will continue to be available to staff and students to replace kits that have been used after an illness.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will continue to be provided until the end of this school year.
- Hand hygiene, improved ventilation, and enhanced cleaning will continue in LDCSB schools.
The LDCSB will continue to follow the guidance and direction from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour and our local health units. Additional updates will be provided later this month.
