“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad” ~Psalm 118:24
Easter is the most important feast within the Catholic Church. We celebrate it with joy as it signifies our hope for eternal life. It’s a reminder to all of us that we must not lie buried in the sorrows of despair and discouragement, but rather to rise up with confidence knowing we are Resurrection people, asked to be present to one another, experiencing the Risen Lord in each encounter.
During this time of year, we are not only reminded that Easter is the foundation of our faith, but it’s an invigorator of our hopes. The greatest of gifts, given to us freely by Jesus, was His death and Resurrection. Lent has given us the opportunity to renew and reflect on our fundamental identity as humans, remembering that we, too, are to give our lives freely in the service of those we encounter each day, and to those entrusted to our care.
The effects of the pandemic over the last two years have been real. Many have suffered, and many continue to work through the setbacks experienced. During Easter, we remember that a daily encounter with Jesus will give meaning to our lives and will provide us with the comfort and strength needed to overcome any obstacle or challenge. May we each continue to be the beacons of hope for those in our schools, parishes, and communities.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Senior Administration of the London District Catholic School Board, we wish you and your family the peace and joy embodied in the Easter Season. Your patience and partnership over the course of this year has been greatly appreciated.
Happy Easter and God bless!
